An Amtrak train is seen from the air after it derailed during the Oct. 16 quake. The train, carrying 155 passengers from Chicago to Los Angeles, de-railed but the cars remained upright. No serious injuries were reported.

The earthquake was felt in three states. It would have been devastating had it hit Los Angeles.
