Jennifer has lived in her house for over 20 years. Gary recently moved in when they became engaged. Their struggle to bring their two households together has brought about a huge mess, and the Clean Sweep team is here to dig them out. Their family room is filled with hundreds of VHS movies and Gary's beer-making equipment. The rec room looks more like a "wreck room" with all of Gary's stuff jammed into this one small space.
Host Tava Smiley takes us on a tour of both rooms. We learn that Jennifer has given Gary the family room as his own, but she never bothered to remove any of her own belongings. The rooms are emptied and the team gets crackin'.
Organizer Peter Walsh meets our couple and has them climb up on an old bookcase so they can take in the sight of their massive "Keep" pile. Gary wants to keep his beer-making equipment and his mother's old china hutch. Jennifer is convinced most of this stuff is Gary's anyway, so she believes that she won't have much to do. Inside, designer Angelo Surmelis is working on a Tiki-bar theme the whole family can enjoy in the rec room while carpenter Eric Stromer works to dismantle the shelves that dominate the family room.
What realization does Jennifer come to when Peter shows her just how much she has in the rooms? What creepy, crawly thing makes Tava freak out? Find out on this "bringing love together" episode of Clean Sweep.
