• Accomplishments in life bring certain rewards, but a closet full of trophies is just another pile of clutter. Pick out the ones you are most proud of and display them properly. This will help you preserve the memory and celebrate the accomplishment.

• Creating a "Display Area" for a home-based business makes it easier to find what you are looking for. If the raw materials are also colorful or pleasing to the eye, they can even become a part of the décor while still being close at hand for your work.

• An office area doesn't have to be all business. Establish an area where you can be creative and let your ideas flow. Be sure to keep it separated from the business and paperwork, or you run the risk of simply reestablishing a cluttered space.

• If an office space also needs to serve another function, such as a guest room, folding furniture can be your best option. A futon that folds to a couch for clients and a bed for guests is a great example of being able of having your furniture serve double duty.

• Large items that you don't use are just waste of precious floor space. A bed or old piano that never gets used is just a giant piece of clutter. If you want to get it out of your house, check with a local charity and see if they might be able to get better use out of your item. Your donation may even be tax deductable.
