• Putting an office space in a closet area can be a real space saver, but if the closet is too small, it won't be able to function properly. Use furniture that matches what you have, and you can blend work space and family space with grace and style.

• If you have mirrored closet doors that are broken, get rid of them. One full-length mirror set outside the closet will perform the same function, and you won't have to look at a cracked version of yourself.

• Exotic items from faraway places are great to display around your home, but if you bury them in clutter, you aren't honoring the memory of the trip. Pick a few pieces you love and display them properly, or risk losing them in the clutter.

• It can be tough living with pets in a small space. Be sure to let them know the limits of where they are allowed to be. Remember, you are in charge of your pets, not the other way around.

• Got an ugly ceiling? Can't paint it? Cover it with fabric and kill two birds with one stone.
