From: Five-Alarm Mess

• One problem with clutter is that it hides what you have. Clear out that mess in your bedroom or home office and you just might find something you thought you lost.

• DVDs are great entertainment, but if they're not properly stored they just look messy. The right size bins can help keep them in order, then devote a place in your room to keeping them together and out of sight.

• Buying new clothes is fine as long as you're willing to get rid of the clothes you don't wear anymore. Remember to set a limit on the space you allow for clothing and stick to it. When the space is full, it's time to purge before you buy.

• Who says curtains and blinds are the only window treatments at your disposal? With a little creativity, you can dress up your windows with colored Plexiglas for a funky, industrial feel.

• A simple, nondescript wall color is a great way to make the art on your walls pop out. If you have a lot of colorful art, there's no need to shy away from grays or other neutral tones.
