Brief History
Professional singer Kelly spends her nights performing and her days working hard on her first flip. Kelly has bought a home that was abandoned by the previous owner and is in complete disrepair. Being a first time renovator, Kelly doesn't realize the extensive damage to the home will take more of her budget or time than she could have possibly imagined. Kelly's credit cards get close to being maxed as she struggles to finish the project.
Step by Step Explanation
Kelly and her contractor, Sammy, tour the house, planning out their strategy for the flip. They start in the living room, where they plan to clean out the mess and paint the wood paneling a brighter color.
In the kitchen, Sammy tells Kelly that everything will have to be replaced because of the neglect. The bathroom is a complete mess, and everything will have to come out as well. Sammy has big plans for the bedroom, as he outlines an idea to combine a small bedroom with a bathroom addition to create a master suite.
After consulting with Kelly, Sammy supervises the crew as they to begin to rid the house of the enormous amount of trash. After taking three days to clean the house, Sammy begins the demolition. But Kelly's plans for the master suite have some design flaws and she has to go back to her architect for some additional plans, which takes a big chunk out of Kelly's budget.
The new plans look good and Sammy proceeds with the creation of the master suite. Other projects featured include the kitchen and bathroom tiling.
While Sammy rushes to finish, Kelly goes to the hardwood floor store to purchase some bamboo flooring for the house.
Once the house is finished, Kelly tours the house with Michael Barasch and Kristina Kaminski, local real estate agents. They provide some suggestions for additional repairs that might add value to the house. Michael and Kristina then propose a listing price based on "comps" in the local area.
