Derek and Sarah may get a shock when they see their beloved, tranquil, earth-toned former home decked out like a nightclub lounge by new owners Minh and Martha. Minh and Martha's old place, a condo, was decorated in bold, dramatic colors, including bright red, pink and orange (Martha's color choices since Minh is color-blind). However, the new condo owners, architects Jon and Tina, couldn't stand the bright colors and have completely remodeled the entire home with architectural precision and sleek lines. Can the old owners handle seeing the changes to their prior homes?
Family A — Jon & Tina
He's from the South and she's from Puerto Rico. They met in architecture school and both have a very strong design style. After thinking about other people's spaces for so long, they finally own their own home. They are into sleek, minimalist design. They are such perfectionists that they can drive each other insane. They intend to make a lot of changes to their new home, including changing the candy-cane red, magenta and orange walls that the previous owners cherished.
Family B — Martha & Minh
Minh and Martha are in their early 30s. She's Italian and he is Vietnamese. They are looking for a more permanent space and are moving from a condo to a traditional house. They have a very bold, adventurous style, and pride themselves on their lounge-like city condo, which featured bright red and orange walls. They feel the decor in their new home is too "suburban" and that it doesn't take risks. They will certainly change that!
Family C — Derek & Sarah
Derek and Sarah have a young, growing family with two sons — one is 2 years old and the other, 4 months old. They are moving to Milwaukee (which is closer to Sarah's family) so their kids can grow up with a yard and near extended family. They've decorated every room to create a calm, natural, soothing and comfortable home. The décor is muted, using pastels and soft furniture. One of their most cherished rooms is the nursery. Their firstborn was premature, and in a matter of two days, the entire family had to pitch in to create the nursery, build the crib, and paint the walls like a sky with clouds. Parting with their house will be very tough as it symbolizes the start of their family.
