Lynette and Chris have a unique style that includes hanging ornate dresses as decoration on their bedroom walls. They have decorated their son’s room with hand-painted cactus stencils and very light walls, but new owners Bill and Paul have a very different design plan in mind. They love vibrant colors and plan to bring their Moorish style into their new home. The couple's current apartment is filled with yellow walls, which are so bright they give new owner Leslie a headache. She can’t wait to exterminate the yellow and gut the old kitchen. What will the old owners think of all the major changes when they return to their former homes?
Leslie
Leslie is buying her very first home. She has been out of graduate school for some time, but is still married to a student’s sense of style — which includes sleeping on a futon. Leslie has accumulated a lot of clutter in the past 10 years, and she hopes to purge it in the move. Her first priority is to tone down some of the loud colors in her new home and make the place more relaxing. In fact, Leslie is so anxious about all the design decisions ahead of her, she is creating a meditation area in her new apartment.
Bill and Paul
Bill and Paul have been dating for nine years and are planning to adopt a baby. Paul loves bright colors and decorating with tiles, while Bill appreciates a more serene, European aesthetic. The couple is eager to get started on the nursery and bring in artwork from their travels, which is mainly inspired by world religions. Paul is outraged by the hospital-white walls in their new bathroom. In addition to lots of painting and skim coating, Bill and Paul are planning some massive kitchen renovations.
Lynette and Chris
Lynette and Chris are both opera singers and have an eclectic sense of style. They are sad to leave the city and their Art Deco-style building, but are in need of more space to expand their family. Will they be able to come to terms with the radical transformations when they come back to visit their former home?
