Materials Needed (per box):
4 pieces of wood, pre-cut to fit displayed object
Wood glue
Pneumatic nail gun and nails to match
Damp sponge
Wood stain and brushes
L-brackets and screws to match
Safety goggles
Process:
Step 1: Order wood pre-cut to match the size of the object you are going to display. Ensure the corners of the wood are mitered at 45-degree angles so they will come together perfectly.
Step 2: Apply wood glue to edges of wood and glue 4 pieces of wood together at corners to make the frame. Wipe off excess glue with a damp sponge.
Step 3: Use the nail gun to nail corners together. If shadow box is large, additional L-brackets can be used on the interior to strengthen the corners.
Step 4: Apply wood stain in desired shade around entire perimeter and interior of shadow box. When using wood stain, it is best to work either outdoors or in a room with good ventilation. A second coat of wood stain may be required.
Step 5: Once wood stain is completely absorbed and dry, affix L-brackets to shadow box and hang on wall.
Step 6: Screw small eyelet hooks into top of box’s interior. Use clear fishing wire to suspend objects in box from eyelet hooks.
