Chicago: Fairview Avenue

Designer Genevieve Gorder turned a moldy bargain basement into a hunting lodge with warm wood and cozy furniture. Genevieve updated the fireplace by installing wood paneling above the mantel. She then installed wood shelves on either side of the fireplace to make it the centerpiece of the room. The walls were painted a rich, rust color to accent the wood, and the sofas were made over with new slipcovers in coordinating colors. Ty Pennington helped Genevieve install wood paneling on the ceiling to replace crumbling tiles.
