Colorado: Cherry Street

For this room in Denver, designer Genevieve Gorder plans to "play off the antlers and the ruggedness of the West. Richer colors — mostly olives and reds — will be welcomed into this land of blah and beige." At first glance the couches seem dull in the room but soon take on a warmth of their own when surrounded by Gen's palette. Convinced the home's builders found the carpet at a garage sale, Gen cuts a square out of the center and inlays a piece of carpet to complement the browns, greens and reds in the room. Throw pillows on the couch bring all the design's shades into focus.
