Chicago: Spaulding Avenue

While slate gray walls do serve as a complement to rich wood floors, designer Hildi Santo-Tomas has another color palette in mind for this bedroom. First the walls are painted a lighter shade of gray and enhanced with long strokes of a darker color to resemble blades of grass. It's no surprise that the bed and bench in this room are among carpenter Ty Pennington's all-time favorite projects — Hildi and Ty spent $700 on quality wood to contrast the flooring. Dark curtains match the accents on the walls, while splashes of orange are placed throughout the room.
