Long Island: Split Rock Road

Though inspired by the natural wood elements in this Long Island kitchen, designer Genevieve Gorder decides to rid the room of the "'70s countrytime" wallpaper and orange woodwork. After steaming off the wallpaper, she paints the walls a light sand color. The room's doors, molding, chair rail and butcher block island are painted sage green. Chairs painted light blue are also updated with more durable, contemporary fabric skirting. Carpenter Amy Wynn Pastor completes the room's transformation with a new dining table to match the butcher block.
