Odd Material: Paint on the floor

Designer Frank Bielec has an amazing talent for painting free-hand, and he puts those skills to good use on this episode. In this living room/dining room, Frank decides to go country. The walls are painted light green, and the ugly blue carpet is pulled up. Frank and his team update an antique pie safe by painting it burgundy and adding green accents to the drawers. Frank paints flowers on the doors to give it added charm. With such a large room, Frank doesn't have enough money left in his budget for new flooring, so he does what he does best: paint! Frank and his homeowners paint the cement floor with green paint. Once the paint is dry, Frank ages the floor by scuffing it up with sandpaper. Frank takes his idea one step further and paints an area rug directly on to the floor. The trick works, and the homeowners are thrilled with their new room.
