Original Airdate: Oct. 5, 1999
City: Savannah, Ga.
Hospital: Memorial Health University Hospital
Doctor Profile: Dr. Michael Millie
Case Study: Pain in the Neck

Savannah, Ga., nestled in the traditions of the Old South, enjoys a slower pace than most towns. A comfortable place draped in Spanish moss, the historic part of town is alive with echoes of a simpler time. South of this peaceful district, however, time reverts to the present in the form of rundown neighborhoods and fading commercial districts. This is the Savannah that plays home to Memorial Health University Hospital. The hospital's Level 1 trauma unit combines all the dichotomies of the town in which it resides: age and youth, experience and inexperience, laughter and heartache. Every day, they form a parade that passes through the busy halls of the ER.
