Original Airdate: Oct. 3, 2000
City: Phoenix, Ariz.
Hospital: Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center
Doctor Profile: Dr. Dustin Reid
Case Study: Speedy Delivery

Located in the hub of the American Southwest on the edge of the Sonoran desert, Phoenix has become a booming metropolis. This growth has transformed Phoenix into a city of urban sprawl that manifests itself regularly with both reckless driving and frequent gunplay. Luckily for those involved in these car wrecks and gunfights, Phoenix is home to one of the top hospitals in the country: Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. In this episode, the doctors have their hands full: a 15-year-old boy is rushed to the hospital after a tractor-trailer diesel tanker collides with his car; a 21-year-old butcher shop employee gets his hand stuck in a meat grinder; a man is nearly decapitated by a large piece of metal that flew through his windshield; and a woman gives birth in the front seat of her car.
