Do you possess the know-how to style the down-and-out and dowdy? Do you constantly wonder why shopping isn’t considered an Olympic sport? Do you always find yourself giving unsolicited advice to co-workers for quick fixes on their hair and makeup? Do you wanna be Stacy London, Clinton Kelly, Nick Arrojo or Carmindy? Do you think you have what it takes?

In the two-hour special What Not to Wear: Wannabe, premiering Friday, Oct. 7, from 8 to 10 p.m. ET/PT, fashion experts Stacy London and Clinton Kelly, hairstylist Nick Arrojo and beauty specialist Carmindy pan the country for talented individuals who think they can make the world a better-looking place. For the new fall special, TLC conducted a nationwide search for up-and-coming fashion stylists, hairstylists and makeup artists, with more than 1,200 applications flooding in from around the country. From an heir to an oil fortune to the sweetheart who won’t let you down, our aspiring style gurus come from all walks of life but they share the same goal: to change the world, one fashion faux pas at a time.

These fashion hopefuls have eagerly waited in the wings for their chance to shine, and now TLC has offered them the one-time chance to become the next What Not to Wear dream team. The contestants submitted video clips of themselves in action, explaining why they’re the perfect match for What Not to Wear: Wannabe. After reviewing the clips, our experts chose 12 wannabes and placed them in three teams of four. The wannabes were then whisked away to New York City to compete in a three-day style-driven challenge, where Stacy and Clinton have watched and analyzed the teams’ every move. At the end of What Not to Wear: Wannabe, our experts will decide who has what it takes to be crowned future fashionistas. The members of the winning team will be awarded a secret prize and the opportunity of a lifetime, a four-page spread in Redbook magazine with celebrity photographer Jack Guy.
