New Jersey: Woodland Court

This screened-in porch serves as a catchall for the homeowners' gardening supplies and camping equipment. The furniture is pushed up against the walls, and the dropped white ceiling makes the porch seem especially small. Designer Chayse Dacoda gets the inspiration for her design from homeowner Wayne's love of camping and fishing. The WYWO crew covers the siding on the walls with cedar shingles and stains the ceiling a dark oak color. Then carpenter Andrew Dan-Jumbo updates the ceiling by installing wood beams to give the porch a classic lodge feeling. A new sofa is built from the same wood used for the ceiling, and cushions and pillows are sewn in a masculine, leather-type fabric. The sofa doubles as storage for Wayne's fishing and camping supplies. To complete the look, new lighting and an area rug are brought in.
