John Bruce
Designer

type size: [A] [A] [A]

WHILE YOU WERE OUT designer John Bruce obtained his design experience working in the independent film industry, where he gained an extensive and diverse background. John worked as an Art Director on such feature films as I Shot Andy Warhol and Happiness. He has also produced, directed and designed music videos and award-winning short films.

John's wide skill set allows him to creatively design spaces for WHILE YOU WERE OUT because of its similarity to designing sets for independent films, which have little or no decorative budget. John also worked as a carpenter while in school and learned the use of different materials while pursuing an art degree. By combining these aesthetic concepts, John employs his resourcefulness and ingenuity to produce fabulous spaces.

John Bruce is a partner in the New York-based design firm Super-Interesting. With his partner he is currently building a chapel and event hall for a church in New Hampshire.

John graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York City with a BFA in Fine Art and Semiotics. He currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.
