Evan Farmer
Q&A (cont'd)
Q: Hi Evan, you are doing a great job!!! Now for my question — How do the producers choose where to do a show?
Thanks, Pam
A: Pam, Well, I make all of the decisions
and I take bribes. Since you probably don't believe that — it is my understanding that locations are chosen first based on variety (we try not to repeat the same types of places). And of coarse the people who are the focus of the show must have an interesting story and engaging personalities. Then it comes down to time of year and the location's climate. For instance, we would try to avoid Florida during hurricane season. That's about it. Bottom line — it has to be interesting, relatively safe, and new.
Q: Evan: I have TWO questions for you: How old are you? How tall are you? The third question is will you marry me, but I don't expect an answer to that. Hahaha.
Keep up the good work on the show, Amaryliss
A: Amaryliss,
First of all, you have a beautiful name! As for your 2 questions? I'm extremely young, and getting taller … and marriage? Let's take it slow for now … maybe meet first, take long moonlit walks getting to know each other, fall madly in love, get a prenup … ya know, I'm a traditional kind of guy.
Q: Hey Evan, Have you ever worked on a project and messed it all up?
Marie
A: Marie, I'm assuming you're referring to a project on the show?! And the answer would be that depends on who's judging. I've messed up plenty by my own standards for sure, and likely by others' standards as well. But messing up is how we learn. Cliche, but true!
Q: What musicians do you admire? What architects inspire you?
Sparky
A: Sparky, I admire every musician for being willing to put their vulnerabilities out there and express themselves in a world of very harsh criticism. That being said, I'm most inspired by some of the lesser know bands and up-and-coming artists such as, Tiaa 66, Joe McKinney, Jump Little Children (I could go on, but that's the idea). The new music pioneers so to speak. As for architects, let me just start by saying that I'm
not a huge Frank Lloyd Wright fan. While I can appreciate his contribution to architecture, I personally feel like his spaces lack a necessary element of human comfort. But then, that wasn't necessarily
his goal. As for my taste, I've been more drawn to the ideas of the Duany and Plater-Zyberk team and that of Carlos Scarpa — very different from each other yet entirely innovative, human oriented, and artistic designers.
