Leslie trains fighter pilots for the Air Force, but when her husband Mike decides to visit his friends in Washington, D.C., she embarks on a new mission — called operation While You Were Out. Mike is tired of Leslie's decorating style; he feels it's too masculine, and would like to relax in softer surroundings. To create a bedroom that is both soft yet masculine, designer John Bruce has taken inspiration from the opulent interiors of Venice, Italy. To create a Venetian Bedroom, John plans a fabric canopy for the bed, as well as an expressively upholstered headboard. He has also picked up some inexpensive thrift store furniture that replicates the ornate beauty of classic Venice. Leslie Segrete makes the headboard, while Andrew Dan-Jumbo works on making some simple but ornate Venetian-style bedside tables. Plus, the used thrift store furniture John has picked up needs to be repaired. Meanwhile, our While You Were Out Secret Cameraperson follows Mike as he goes out on the town in D.C., posing as a filmmaker making a documentary on how military personnel spend their holidays. Mike may want a softer bedroom, but is it possible that John Bruce has taken Venetian style a bit too far? Tune in, and watch the transformation.
