When it comes to decorating decisions, Barbara and Carlos usually decide together. This time however, Barbara is making a few decisions of her own. Barbara wants to surprise her husband Carlos with a backyard makeover so he can spend more time outside relaxing and having fun with the family.
Since Carlos does not consider the backyard to be part of their living space, Barbara wants to create something to remind him of his native Puerto Rico that will get him out of the house and into the yard. With the help of the While You Were Out carpenters Andrew Dan-Jumbo and Leslie Segrete, designer Mayita Dinos will create a Puerto Rican Casita full of colors and tropical accents. This "little house" outside comes complete with chair hammock, coconut torches, and window box herb garden.
While the While You Were Out team is re-creating the landscape of Puerto Rico in St. Petersburg, Carlos is exploring the landscape of the Everglades. He's roughing it out in the elements and canoeing with alligators. When Carlos returns will he dart inside the safety of his own home, or will he extend his outdoor weekend relaxing on the porch of his Puerto Rican Casita?
