Jennifer's mom Diane was born in France, and loves it so much she visits every chance she gets. But it's still not enough for total satisfaction, so Jennifer has arranged with While You Were Out to send Diane on a two-day visit to a grand French estate in North Carolina. Designer John Bruce and the team will transform Diane's muddled family room into a Parisian salon, complete with French doors, custom bar, and a rich wooden ceiling. While Diane is living it up, the crew arrives to find the room's milieu a bit muddled and in desperate need of design.
John Bruce works to reconstruct the space, adding color to the scene by detailing the room with toys and plastic boxes. Guest carpenter Adrienne Haitz employs rich fabrics to create a bold new look for the boring couch, while carpenter Andrew Dan-Jumbo completes the room with a set of French doors and a custom-built bar. But things get hairy in the salon when the team pulls out the drop ceiling and struggles to replace it with wooden panels.
Will Jennifer find John Bruce's wild designs a good fit for her mother? Or will While You Were Out out-French a Francophile?
