Jonathan is a sports fanatic first, title insurance broker second. Jennifer, his wife, leapt on his upcoming golfing trip to Mississippi to contact While You Were Out and create a sports den for him and his buddies in the basement of their Long Island home. It was the ideal opportunity for Jennifer and the design team to execute a 48-hour miracle makeover.
Jennifer had a very strong idea about what Jonathan would like. Along with golf, he is a major New York Jets, and NY Yankees fan, so she felt it was important that this was reflected in the room design. Designer Stephen Saint-Onge took up the challenge of creating Jonathan's dream den, without it becoming Jennifer's macho sports nightmare. Stephen created a bar area, with a natural wood counter as a place for Jonathan to entertain his buddies. The bar stools were cleverly recovered with Jonathan's old Yankees shirts.
Stephen wanted to create a Shaker theme to the room, so tongue and groove panel pieces were erected all around the room, and around the bar, which was painted white. To create a shabby chic look, Jennifer's old chairs were distressed, with white paint. Stephen then took old black and white photos of the Yankees and Jets, which he placed in simple black frames, and placed, around the room, along with Jonathan's treasured collection of sports memorabilia.
