The While You were Out team has taken on some ambitious domestic projects in the past, but getting invited to make-over a room in the two-hundred year-old Massachusetts State House in Boston is in a league of its own.
Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney's Press Secretary Shawn Feddeman is an extremely dedicated public servant. Shawn's an upbeat 29 year old, who works very long hours in a drab government-issue office that desperately needs a makeover. Unwilling to use public money to decorate her office, the Governor and Communications Director, Eric Fehrnstrom, want John Bruce and the 'While You Were Out' team to give Shawn's room some style and personality. The design has to be in keeping with the beautiful and historic state house and a gift to the Commonwealth to be enjoyed by future occupants of the office.
To get Shawn out of town for the weekend, a plan is hatched to send her off to Newport, Rhode Island, but no one accounted for Shawn's stubborn streak — she simply digs her heels in and refuses to leave town. So while Eric's helping the team transform her office, Shawn is seldom more than a few blocks away. The chances of getting busted just couldn't be higher. But host Evan Farmer just loves flirting with danger and can't resist the idea of 'accidentally' meeting with Shawn in a Boston restaurant. He's pretty certain she doesn't know who he is, but is he going to blow the whole thing by being too clever?
With just an hour to go before the room's due to be finished — and chaos the name of the game — the Governor himself pays a quick visit to meet John, Evan, Andrew and Leslie, inspect their progress, and make the all-important call that will bring Shawn back into the State House on a Sunday evening for an 'emergency meeting' and the surprise of her life.
