It's hard to keep a secret on an island with a year round population that tops out at less then 1,000, but that was the challenge for the While You Were Out team! We accepted Lynne's offer to redesign her dining room while her husband Steve was out looking at wildlife on the water. Designer Mark Montano titled his colorful vision for the room 'Old England meets New England.' Lynne was thrilled with the overall scheme that included gold walls and a blue ceiling, but what would her British ancestors think about the mirror trimmed in gold-painted pasta shapes? More importantly, what would her husband think? Then again, maybe he wouldn't notice it amongst the tassels, chandeliers, fancy chair covers and hand stenciled floor design.

One thing's for sure, the residents of Peaks Island will have plenty to talk about this winter.
