Penny and Scott have had some major life changes in the last year. They've just had their first child together, and even more recently they moved into their first house. Still getting used to family life, Penny wants to ease this transition by giving Scott something to bring out the kid in him — a hockey-themed basement.
Scott is a huge Toronto Maple Leafs fan — a fact that's painfully obvious when you enter the basement. A '70s wood-paneled room is all but covered in the hockey team's merchandise and memorabilia. Trouble is, the room's full of kids' toys and junk, and it's dark! Stephen Saint-Onge plans to turn this drab space into the ultimate hockey-viewing room, with a photo mural of an ice rink, locker-style cubbies for each member of the family, and a banister using hockey sticks among others.
As the While You Were Out team tries to achieve its goal, Scott's five hours away in Ottawa having some intensive hockey training with his boss Mark — and being filmed while he's doing it. "You know, it's strange," he says, "I feel like I'm on While You Were Out, but hey, that's crazy, they never come to Canada!" Oh Scott, if only you knew what was going on back home…
