When Mark contacted the WYWO team he already had a scheme in mind for his second floor apartment living room: "Bring some Hollywood to Chicago," was his plea, and for the best possible reasons: Mark and partner Patrick recently moved from Hollywood to the Windy City for Mark's job.
The move was a big sacrifice for Patrick (who's got a background in the entertainment industry), and he really misses LA. Both guys have a deep love of vintage Hollywood and Forties TV. There's not a lot these two can't tell you about I Love Lucy. Mark desperately wanted to makeover their main living room in a classic Hollywood style. "But please WYWO, nothing cheesy or predictable."
Enter John Bruce and team with a design that screams cool 40's. Down at street level, Andrew Dan-Jumbo gets straight to work building a cocktail cabinet along classic lines; upstairs, Leslie Segrete has yards of wonderful fabric for drapes and cushions and recovers an old rocking chair in typical Segrete style. And once the versatile Leslie's finished with the soft stuff there's a unique chair to design and build. Mark seems pretty pleased with it all apart from one thing, brown paint on the doors and trim are giving him concern: "Is it going to be too dark? Will Patrick really like it?"
But while Mark's fretting in Chicago, Patrick is sublimely unaware that anything out of the ordinary is going on back home. He's in Grand Rapids with his friend Teresa and having a highly theatrical experience, including an 'audition' for a part in a Reality TV show. Sorry Patrick, but I'm afraid it's just for us and guess what, you're already on television!
Will opening night in Chicago receive terrific applause or will this drama die on its feet. That's showbiz!
