The While You Were Out team is used to working in odd circumstances, but making over the nursery, in a church, on a Sunday morning with the sweet sound of hymns floating in the air, beats the lot. But you know the team's motto by now: "Any place, any time, anywhere!"
It was Stacey McFarland — a member of Winchester's nondenominational Church of the Living God, who had the initial brainwave and the Reverend Tom Hall who gave his blessing and happily donated his labor. The Reverend Tom and Stacey had watched nursery directors Pam and Vickie devote their Sunday mornings to watching over the little ones while their parents worshipped, but they were well aware that the nursery space was bare and boring with very little to stimulate young minds or occupy tiny hands. It's just the job for Farmer, Geller, Dan-Jumbo and Barone — all children at heart.
For Andrew, it was a project he could throw himself into with passion: constructing a playhouse of such gorgeous design that our carpenter extraordinaire can't help but add the most perfect of finishing touches — he even raids Sewing World to make an awning for the window.
Nadia and Ali transform the room with decorative paint on the walls and create a comfortable storytelling area, an art gallery and an ingeniously designed "swimming pool" (yes, you read right!).
Pam and Vickie of course know nothing about all this and are safely away in Nashville, Tenn., while the WYWO team works on making all things bright and beautiful at the church. Will they like it? Most importantly, will the little ones like it? There's only one way to find out: bring in a posse of 3-year-old experts and put it to the test!
