You're in the army now, WYWO team. Well, at least you're on a mission is to revamp a room in one of the world's most prestigious military training establishments; the United States Military Academy at West Point. Now we've had some pretty impressive accomplices before, but never have we worked with Army top brass! Colonel Mundie — husband of our surprise, Jenny — is affectionately referred to as the 'sugar colonel' by his adoring Cadets. As head of the Life Sciences program in the science department at West Point, the Colonel is feared in the classroom for his toughness and respected outside of it for his dedication to his students.
The Colonel and his wife Jenny, sponsor approximately 40 to 45 cadets each year. Put that in contrast to the typical one or two cadets that other West Point families sponsor and you begin to understand exactly why the Mundies have earned a visit from the WYWO team.
It was daughter April who applied to the show to make over the third floor 'common room' in her parents quarters as a surprise for her Mom. Both Jenny and the Colonel have dedicated so much of their personal time (between making dinner for all 45 cadets every Saturday night, and installing an extra dryer so that the cadets can do their laundry in 'Hotel Mundie', as their quarters is affectionately called) that they have never had a moment to re-furbish the common room that's become a really important place for so many West Point cadets. And believe me, this is a room that needs every ounce of Mark Montano's superlative design skills.
Okay team — uniforms will be worn; shoulders back, chests out. They're coming home at 1800 hours on the dot and you've got work to do!
