Kristen is a young teacher who manages to stretch her modest income just enough to make mortgage payments on a townhouse, as long as her sister (and roommate), Kerri, pays rent. But when a car accident meant Kristen had to spend her only savings and put off plans for a garden makeover, her sister got the WYWO team to come to the rescue.
Designer Chayse Dacoda came up with a backyard transformation that takes the deck from plain-Jane to decked out, and the neglected yard from empty to elegant in a design called "Canopy Retreat."
Carpenters Jason Cameron and Ali Barone have two days to build storage benches that match the pattern of the existing deck, as well as make an awning overhead and a canopy for the new outdoor dining area. Turns out they have a few installation problems that could have been avoided with a little more studying during high-school geometry.
Meanwhile Kristen is doing carpentry of her own! She's whisked off by a colleague who has "won" a few days of Home Depot workshops. Kristen doesn't know that the table she is building matches this episode's final prize of a set of Adirondack furniture. Will she win it? If not, she can always go back to Home Depot school and build some more.
