Lisa and Matt Neenan live in downtown Chicago, and when we say "downtown," what we really mean is Lisa and Matt live in the heart of Chicago. Standing on their barren, wind-swept terrace, 70 feet above the streets of the Windy City, it feels as if you can reach out and touch the Hancock building.
With the famous "EL" train rattling past, it's easy to understand why these two Chicago natives chose to move to this condo last spring. Not only does their sixth-floor condo boast spectacular views of the famous Chicago skyline, but it also has a feature nearly extinct in almost all metropolitan areas across the country: a 1,200-square-foot terrace. That’s right, 1,200 square feet of outdoor space 70 feet up in the air. But after living in their current digs for almost a year, the couple still hasn't done any work on the terrace — it's gray, sterile and uninviting. The only fixture is a Weber grill, sitting alone in the middle of a concrete wasteland.
Lisa has decided it's about time her fun-loving, graphic artist of a husband was awarded his dream balcony. Carried in on the winds of fortune comes the
WYWO team, ready to tackle a nearly extinct space: downtown outdoor living. And who better to lead the charge than our very own Andrew Dan-Jumbo!
That's right. Exchanging his tool belt for a sketch pad and pencil, Andrew is poised to tackle his first space as the designer. Andrew's challenge: to create an inviting yet decidedly masculine terrace for Matt to relax, barbecue and entertain on. Andrew is running at full throttle with John Bruce, Leslie Segrete and Evan lending support. We can tell you this much — it won't be the wind that blows Matt away when he comes home!
