FAMILY PRIDE

...Jeremy and I are both proud of each other and of our family. We're proud of what our mother and father have done here and how they've made a thirty-four acre farm the cool place to be for all our friends.

People at school look up to Jeremy because he's a great soccer player, and he uses that to his advantage when it comes to sticking up for me. I play on the same high school team as Jeremy. I'm not the best player on the team-that would be Jeremy-but I'm also not the worst.

I know it can be kind of shocking to see a little person playing high school soccer with a bunch of average-sized guys, and sometimes I feel the looks or hear the little comments. Some of the kids we play against can't believe I'm out there, and they say so.

Jeremy sticks up for me on the soccer field by making smart-aleck comments to the players he knows are being disrespectful toward me, and he usually does it loud so everyone knows who said it. He also calls me "Bro" on the field, so that everyone knows I'm not just his friend or teammate but also his brother.

In one game, we were getting beat pretty bad, and the guys on the team that was beating us were doing a lot of talking. But I had a chance to make a steal and make a great pass against a player who had been mouthing off. It was a pretty sweet move. Jeremy just couldn't leave it alone. "What's this?" he yelled out. "You guys are getting schooled by a dwarf?" I couldn't stop laughing, but I also appreciated Jeremy's sticking up for me and letting people know he was proud of the move I'd made.
