![]() 1. Kids' Closets: Kids' closets can be disaster zones. When instructed to clean rooms, many children's first instinct is to shovel the mounds of junk from the bedroom floors -- often a growing conglomeration of toys, clothes, books, etc., that kids are so prone to collecting -- and add them to already overtaxed closets. When making a game plan, try to think of ways to make the items your kids use the most as accessible as possible -- easy to grab equals easy to put away. Also, installing a closet rod within reach can make laundry days smoother for everyone -- and the rod and supports can cost as little as $10 to $20. A set of little toy bins is also a great idea. It eliminates the temptation to dump out an entire chest full of toys each time, and kids get the chance to practice organization firsthand. Toy bins come in a wide range of prices, but some sets can be found for around $40. They can be organized thematically (stuffed animals in one bin, action figures in another) or alphabetically to make things a bit more challenging. |
