TLC's new competition series, Master of Dance, tests contestants' moves by changing the song mid-performance to see if they can really go with the flow. Only the dancers with a full repertoire and the flexibility to keep up with the beat will be able to claim the grand prize of $50,000.
Each episode features five dancers pitted against each other through three elimination rounds, during which they will be tested on style, genre and personality. The winners from the first five episodes will move on to the Tournament of Champions Grand Finale for a dance-off to win the cash prize and title of Master of Dance.
Host Joey Lawrence, who demonstrated his skill onstage when he ranked as second runner-up during the third season of Dancing With the Stars, said of his duties on the show: "I've always had a passion for dancing, and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work with TLC and all the competitors as they battle it out for the grand prize and title Master of Dance."
In addition to Lawrence offering guidance, a panel of judges will critique the performers as well: Lucinda Dickey has been dancing since the age of 4, and studied with the prestigious Roland DuPree Dance Academy. She has appeared onstage and on-screen as a dancer in hits like Solid Gold, Breakin' and Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo. Keith "Tyce" Diorio has danced with Paula Abdul, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin and other celebrities. He also appears as a choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance. Loni Love was voted one of 2008's top 20 comics to watch on Comedy Central. A regular on the comedy circuit, she has offered her hilarious pop-culture commentary on numerous television shows..
Master of Dance premieres Monday June 9 at 8 PM ET/PT.
