Crescent City, Calif., residents Adam Gonzalez and his girlfriend, Jaime Holiman, are ready to move out of their haunted rental house and purchase a home where they can keep their horses. But when they find the perfect parcel of land, the 24-year-olds discover that they can't afford to purchase the property and install a manufactured home on it. It's back to the drawing board, and a trail of disappointing houses that trample their dream of becoming homeowners. Will the young couple get back on the house-hunting trail or in their haunted rental house for good? Episode 2: Washougal, Wash. Michael Lomax and Mandy Myers, of Camas, Wash., are planning their wedding and hoping to buy their first home before "the big day." But when the lovebirds put in an offer on a house, they have a change of heart and decide to back out of the deal. Then Michael finds the home of their dreams, but they are outbid by another couple and lose the house. Will Michael and Mandy find a home to start their new life in, or will they be living with their in-laws after their honeymoon? Episode 3: Tri-Cities, Wash. Kennewick, Wash. residents Dan and Jill Mulhausen share their tiny rental home with five dogs and just found out that they are expecting their first child. Knowing there is no room for them, five dogs and a new baby, these perspective house buyers begin their search for a dream house. However, they only have a three-month window in their busy schedules to find a home. After looking at many houses, these dog lovers and expecting parents fear they might not find the perfect home in time and will be stuck raising their newborn in their already cramped rental. Episode 4: Burlington, Vt. Scott and Amy Maynard have moved three times in the last four years. These residents of Burlington, Vt., want to bring some stability to their lives buy purchasing a house for their family of five. But before they can even qualify for a loan, the Maynards have to reduce a mountain of credit card debts. Once their finances are in order, Amy finds the home of her dreams, but Scott thinks it's more like a nightmare. Will the couple ever agree on the perfect property, or will their constant bickering keep them in their tiny rental by the airport? Episode 5: Lawrence, Mass. When poker buff Sharyn Devaney learns that she is losing the lease on her rental apartment in Lawrence, Mass., she decides to put the money she was planning on using to purchase a new car into a down payment on a home. Now Sharyn finds herself with a short stack in the high-stakes game of the real estate market. Will she and her boyfriend, Carlos, be able to navigate their way through a series of dilapidated fixer-uppers and shady counter-offers to the payday of a new home? Episode 6: Concorde, N.H. Concord, N.H., is the hometown of Heather Peterson. The single mother loves her daughter, Danielle, and her Harley-Davidson motorcycle. After three and a half years of looking for a house, Heather has decided not to renew her lease and wants to find the perfect home for herself and Danielle. But when she has trouble obtaining a loan, she needs to get creative and find a way to raise some quick cash to buy the house of her dreams. What happens when the sellers want to back out of the deal? Will Heather lose the house and end up living in her mother's basement? Episode 7: San Fernando Valley, Calif. Los Angeles police officer David Miner and his fiancee, Roxanne Quezada, are determined to buy their first home. However, Roxanne's desire to live in some of Los Angeles' trendier neighborhoods does not jibe with David's wishes to live on a responsible budget. Will this married couple-to-be keep the peace by finding a house in a neighborhood Roxanne can live with at a price David thinks they can afford? Or will the stress of the search land them both in solitary confinement? Episode 8: Birmingham, Ala. Heath and Mary-Katherine McAlister share a love of hot barbecue, cold beer and competitive pool. The couple play frequently in a local amateur league, but their latest hustle has been trying to break their way into the housing market. Subpar credit has put them behind the eight ball, but their competitive natures won't allow them to give up that easily. The couple has a shared goal of buying a home that fits both their personalized pool table and their budget. Will Heath and Mary-Katherine pocket the home they've always dreamed of? Episode 9: Chattanooga, Tenn. Memphis, Tenn., residents Jeffrey and Emily Maddux have a weekend to buy a house in their hometown of Chattanooga. The young professionals want to live in a trendy downtown neighborhood. But when they can't find a house in the city, Emily wants to check out the suburbs, where the houses are newer and bigger. Will suburban living outweigh their desire to find a house in a neighborhood that better suits their social life? Or will a weekend not be enough time to find a house in any neighborhood and leave them living in their parents' basement? |
