Dr. Robi's Romance Tips

Okay, so you’ve probably figured this out by now, but most marriages don’t resemble the fairy tales or romantic movies that permeate our popular culture.  Beware! Unrealistic expectations can interfere with appreciating the wonderful person that we have right in front of our eyes.

People, regardless of whether they are a man or a woman, want to feel special and valued for who they are. Creating romance in our relationship is a wonderful way to help our partners know that we are not taking them for granted. Here are some practical tips to help you re-create that spark that’s missing in your relationship.

The bottom line is romance is important. And it doesn’t have to take a lot of time or money to make it happen!  Try some of the tips below to shake things up.

* Make a date! Set a side time to be together as a couple.

* Do something different with each other like give your partner a special welcome home. Have the music going, greet them at the door with a loving kiss and a hug.

* Get your partner a small "just because" gift.

* Create a massage night.

* Go away for a romantic weekend with your partner.

* Re-create the first time you met each other.

* Send sexy messages to your partner so he or she has something to look forward to when they get home.

* Be thoughtful.

* Really listen to one another.

* Share a dream or fantasy you have never told anyone before.

* Dress up and return to your “sexy” self.

* Write a love letter to your spouse letting him/her know all of the reasons why you love them and appreciate them.

* Create a holiday just for the two of you and then find new ways to celebrate it on a regular basis.
