They come from different backgrounds with different experiences and thoughts, but they all have something to say about what it's like to be a kid in America. Meet the 20 children who participated in this special TLC event.

Adora, 8
By the age of 7, Adora had already achieved international recognition with the publication of Flying Fingers, a collection of short stories and poems. Hoping to inspire other children to read and write, Adora often gives presentations on her writing technique and instructs others on how to improve their writing. This summer, Adora will go on a book tour to share her inspirational message with Asian children.

Ashley, 11
Ashley has always been passionate about music, and even more passionate about sharing her gift with the rest of the world. Although she dreams of someday becoming a success in Hollywood, she keeps her close-knit family the top priority in her life.

Cole, 8
Cole lives with cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair, but hopes some day to walk. Currently he is taking Karate, hoping to get his black belt one day. Cole feels passionately about animal welfare. Drew, 10
Like most boys, Drew enjoys spending time with his friends - but his true passion is performing and ballet. During his filming, Drew was a student at The School of American Ballet, attending ballet classes four days a week and performing with The New York City Ballet.
Currently, you'll find Drew training at American Ballet Theatre's Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School and his resume includes performances in The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Le Corsaire, Petrouchka, A Midsummer Night's Dream as well as musical theatre productions such as Oliver! and The Wizard of Oz.
Though he sometimes finds himself teased by kids at school for his interest in dance, music and theatre, Drew remains committed to his dream.

Elif is a practicing Muslim whose family recently moved to America from Turkey.

Estefania, 10
Estefania's family immigrated to the United States from Mexico just two years ago. Now Estefania's mother is pregnant and will give birth to an American citizen, allowing Estefania to explore her identity as a Mexican-American.

Forrest, 9
Forrest has a unique sense of style that sets him apart from other kids. Even when long, dyed hair and unique clothing choices result in teasing, Forrest enjoys standing out from the crowd. He feels lucky to have two parents who are both understanding and supportive and help him to discover the person he wants to be.

Jacob, 9
Jacob loves to play baseball, football and ride his bike like most kids, but being a military child can make life a little different. Jacob's father has twice served in Iraq and now the military has moved the whole family to Japan.

Joshua, 7
After years spent growing up in a tough neighborhood, Joshua currently lives in a safer neighborhood in Baltimore with his mother, younger sister and grandfather. Joshua hasn't seen his father in a little over two years and often yearns for a father figure in his life. Joshua is an above average student - his best subject is math; outside of school, his hobbies include singing and dancing. The Temptations are his favorite group. A natural in front of the camera and on a stage, Joshua loves to think up little skits and act them out. He has also recently become interested in football. Despite the hardships in his life, Joshua is determined to succeed, saying he wants to be president someday.

Lisetanne, 10
Lisetanne is energetic and effervescent and loves to learn, write and perform. Adopted when she was six days old by a single Caucasian woman, Lisetanne knows that other kids see her family as different, but she enjoys being unique and has a strong, close relationship with her mother.
